There's something really special about all chai drinks (spiced tea drinks), but when you also add alcohol, the result is better than any regular cocktail you might get. This specific combination here also features the delicate flavor of lavender flowers, for a hypnotic-like effect. Cheers to floral chai cups with a bit of alcoholic spice!
Last year: Spanakopita triangles (Greek-style).
Two years ago: Dill and cottage cheese bread.
Three years ago: Fondant pan potatoes (French style).
Four years ago: Pricomigdale (Romanian walnut biscuits), Salata z Boczkiem (Polish wilted lettuce salad with bacon vinaigrette) and Smoked salmon and cucumber starters.
Ingredients (for a small pitcher, serves 3-4):
- 50-75 ml water
- 5-6 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon lavender flowers
- 30 ml vodka
- 2-3 cups of freshly brewed black tea
Bring the water to a gentle simmer and stir the sugar into it until completely dissolved. Add the lavender flowers remove from the heat. Let the lavender syrup steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes.
Mix the syrup (let the flowers in it, it will look more authentic) with the vodka and pour it in the pitcher.
Gently pour in the freshly brewed black tea and stir with a long spoon. The vodka lavender chai is done. You can serve it both hot and cold. I guarantee that your friends/guests will love it.
