Caviar on mashed potatoes (Russian)

A lovely combination you should really try whenever you want a change from serving caviar on the regular bread and butter. It's a traditional Russian recipe, and they should know a thing or two about the best ways to enjoy caviar. :)
Recipe source: Saveur.

Last year: File Marajoara (Steak with melted cheese) (Brazilian).
Two years ago: Baby making and no cooking :).

Ingredients (serves 3):
  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3-4 tablespoons creme fraiche (or some other solid type sour cream)
  • red caviar to serve (3 large tablespoons)

Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water for 30-40 minutes until soft to pierce with a fork.

Drain them and mash them with the milk, salt and pepper. Divide between three ramekins.

Top with the cream.

And then with the caviar. It's done, dig in! :)

    1. Nothing to be afraid of, I promise. It's not really an acquired taste. If you like salted salmon (not necessarily smoked or only lightly smoked) or any other salted fish, then you probably like caviar as well. :)
