Irish soda bread (with mixed seeds)

The Irish soda bread is famous for its fast preparing time (given that it's made with soda instead of yeast, thus canceling the rising time) and the fact that is uses yogurt as the moisture required to make the dough. It's crunchy, very crusty and delicious.
The use of various seeds was inspired from here. Also, I decided to make more portion-sized buns instead of a large round bread (which tradition called for). Enjoy.

Ingredients (for 6-7 buns):

  • 250 g all purpose flour
  • 250 g whole wheat flour
  • 100 g oat flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • a handful of poppy seeds
  • a handful of flax seeds
  • a handful of sunflower kernels
  • a handful of sesame seeds
  • 500 ml / 500 g simple yogurt or buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
Measure out the flours and oat flake quantities and pour them in the same bowl.

Add the seeds and the salt and soda:

Add the yogurt and work everything into a dough (it will be very fast, you'll see):

Line a tray with baking paper and mold out little breads out of the dough on it:

Bake for 45 minutes and it's done. Dig in! :)
